Pretty close to the town centre, but the best part was the extremely friendly and helpful owner/staff! Gave us loads of advice and recommendations (a few of them spoke good English). Room was comfortable and shower was the best we had in Central Asia! Hair dryer upon request was really helpful and wifi was strong. Breakfast spread was good, just perfect before we head into the mountains! They let us use the kitchen to cook something simple too. Great choice in Karakol!
Feedbacks of our guests
The hotel is located quite centrally in Karakol. We stayed for a few days and also had meals there for most of the times. The staff was very friendly and accommodating (prepared vegan food on request).
The 'lux' room i stayed in was a bit 'good old Soviet' style, i,e, not very modern, but clean. The bed was large and the pillows lovely. Just the mattress coils are a bit hard, yet you can get around that, if you put half of the quilt on top of the mattress and cover yourself on top with the rest of the quit.
While there were TV and refrigerator in the room, there were no tea making facilities in the room itself, yet, the staff is very friendly, and prepare tea/ hot water etc. for you.
-central guest house/hotel -good price & nice accommodations -room = bedroom/large sitting area/bathroom -nice buffet breakfast -walking distance to bars & restaurants -friendly owners and alcohol for night cap available! -recommended

I travel to Karakol frequently, and stay across multiple hotels. In my mind, Altamira is one of the nicer places, for a multitude of reasons:
- Great and easy Check in/out process
- Incredible customer service, with range of spoken English in the mix
- Comfortable rooms, with en-suite bathrooms that always had hot water
- Location and proximity of hotel to various restaurants, cafes and shops
- Convenient and reasonable laundry services
- Great and extensive breakfast
In my last visit, the only drawback was weak internet connectivity or provision throughout the hotel. The issue was indicated to management, and no doubt it will have been addressed as the family-owned business is very attentive to tourist needs.
A great hotel, reasonably priced and recommended!
We stayed for one night in March while travelling with friends. We had not booked but 3 rooms were available. We had a triple room which was comfortable with a clean and good shower bathroom. The hotel wi fi was good and the rooms well heated.Breakfast buffet was good and staff spoke good English.
